The British Shooting Show has booked former rugby internationals Mike Tindall and James Haskell, with broadcaster Alex Payne, to run its main stage on Friday afternoon, 12 February 2027 – the three who present the podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, as the show has announced. For the trade, the bigger news is that the same trio will present the Great British Shooting Awards, the industry’s own ceremony, at the NEC Birmingham on the show’s opening day.

What will the Friday afternoon session look like?

The show says the three will bring guests onto the main stage for interviews in a chat show format, with familiar names from television and from shooting lined up to join them. The session falls on the first of the show’s three days, 12 – 14 February 2027, and visitors are advised to get to the main stage early if they want a good view.

Are the three hosts shooters themselves?

According to the show, the booking is about more than famous faces. Each of the three has real shooting credentials, it says, so the audience can expect humour backed by genuine enthusiasm for the sport around them.

“We all love our shooting, so getting the chance to host the main stage at the British Shooting Show is a real treat,” Mike Tindall said in the announcement. “We’ve got some great guests lined up and, no doubt, James will talk far too much, but that’s what people come for. It’s also a privilege to be hosting the Great British Shooting Awards and celebrating the trade that keeps this sport going.”

They are brilliant entertainers, but they are also genuine shooters, and that comes across every time they talk about the sport. Their Friday afternoon session is set to be one of the highlights of the show.”

The awards are a trade-only event, according to the announcement, and the three will bring the same blend of humour and shooting knowledge to the ceremony. This year’s awards were presented on Friday 13 February, the opening day of the 2026 show, with 24 categories settled by a record public vote. As well as guns, cartridges and optics, they honoured the people who work in the countryside, among them Gamekeeper of the Year, Professional Deerstalker of the Year, Gundog Trainer of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to Conservation. The 2027 winners will be announced on the Friday, with the three as hosts.
