Carl Zeiss Sports Optics GmbH has announced to staff that it will end production of hunting and nature observation optics at its Wetzlar facility by the end of 2026, marking the closure of one of Germany’s most storied optical manufacturing sites. The move will affect approximately 70 employees and reflects broader structural changes within the premium optics sector.
